Modified on October 11, 2021

We have had a number of customers with old UAP-LR AP’s wanting to upgrade to the latest’s firmware (4+).  These old AP’s look like this and have the green LED (Blue are the AC ones)

If the customer is on firmware below 3 follow this

Factory reset the device by the following guide from Unifi

Locate the reset button of the device, using the Quick Start Guide, accessible in our Downloads page. Use the left hand product menu to filter down to individual models and find the QSG under the Documentation subsection on the page.

  1. Use a paperclip or a similar thin, firm object to press down and hold the reset button for 10 seconds while device is connected to power. If unsure of when to release the reset button, information on what to watch for is provided in each device’s Quick Start Guide.
  2. Release the button. The LEDs on the device will turn off for a moment.
  3. Do not disconnect the device from its power source during the reboot process.
  4. The device will come back to life, LED patterns showing the device going through rebooting process and then stopping in the “ready for adoption” pattern. See Related Articles below for LED patterns and their meaning.
  5. Remember to also Forget the device using the method explained in the first section if the device appears in the Devices list in the UniFi Network Controller.

SSH into the device with a program like Putty, enter the IP address into the putty like this

Enter the following commands, after each upgrade you will have to wait until the upgrade is done.  We run a ping to the IP address to see when it reboots
